FAQs
Here you will find answers to some questions about the Dailys project or the Alpha Stork.
Dailys is an art project that combines art, technology, and AI. It documents how AI interprets our daily global events. Everything is automated: from idea generation, image creation, minting, listing, and even website updates.
The Dailys project is programmed in Python and connects various bots with AI services. It is fully automated and takes care of image inspiration, processing, translation, prompt generation, image creation, NFT minting, NFT listing, and website updates.
When the project entered the alpha phase, there were still some minor issues, which triggered several test runs. Since we wanted to showcase the Dailys project at a live exhibition, we decided not to remove these. Therefore, there are 5 different Dailys from the first day. However, from all subsequent days, there is only one piece each. Think of these Dailys as a launch special 🙂
We consciously decided against it due to the different date formatting styles. However, we have recorded the day, month, and year as traits. This allows you to filter by a specific date on OpenSea.
Each Daily is produced as a non-fungible token (NFT) in a limited edition of maximum 100 pieces. These NFTs can be purchased on platforms like OpenSea. As an owner of a Daily, you will pay about 10 Matic (Polygon), which is approximately 6-8 dollars (as of May 2024). A guide to buying NFTs will soon be available in our how-to section.
One piece of each Daily remains in the Dailys wallet as a memento or documentation.
During the test phase, it was decided that Dailys NFTs should be as accessible as possible.
Yes. We started with OpenSea but plan to expand to other trading platforms in the future.
The pre/test phase of Dailys started on March 13th, but without mints. After an extensive test phase, the mints were activated on May 12th, 2024, and the previous Dailys were minted.
2.5% of the sales go to OpenSea, another 2.5% to the Alpha Stork wallet. The rest is used to cover costs/expenses and to fund new projects. So, with every purchase, you are supporting our ongoing work.
The news is sourced daily from an Austrian news website. In the future, we plan to add more news sources.
With ScreenView, you can display the Dailys on a TV or screen in full screen. To do this, you simply need to open the ScreenView link on your TV. The page periodically queries the database for changes and then updates the Daily.
The royalties from secondary market sales are collected in a special Ethereum wallet embedded within a stork. This wallet can only be accessed by destroying the stork.
The Alpha Stork is a physical artwork made of over 600 wooden cubes. Inside the stork is an Ethereum wallet that receives all the royalties from the resale of the Dailys. To access the wallet, the stork must be destroyed.
We are from Burgenland and love storks. They are somewhat like our trademark. Additionally, the stork was one of our first voxel models, which can also be found in the metaverse on Voxels (landesgalerie.com).
Dailys has a database of artists from which an artist is randomly selected. This ensures each Daily has its own character and maintains the diversity of the images. You may discover artists previously unknown to you.
The question of whether AI images “steal” from other artists can be extensively debated. Artists have always been influenced by others, much like even cave paintings were depictions of daily life. The Dailys project does not aim to copy specific artists. It is an experiment meant to provoke discussions about the concept of art and artists and simultaneously document global events. The various styles are intended to keep the images diverse and give viewers the opportunity to discover new artists.
The process of creating the Dailys is quite complex. From news processing, prompt generation, to image creation, a lot happens. We can change the logical process or sequence, but we cannot influence which data from the prompt the AI ultimately uses for image creation or how it “thinks.” Sometimes the images match better, sometimes less. Occasionally, the selected art styles are just abstract. However, we regularly adjust the general logic.
The images are minted on the Polygon chain (Matic) to ensure that minting and gas fees remain as low as possible.
Yes, we know there are a bunch of alternative and cheap chains like Base, Solana, etc., on which Dailys could have launched. We chose Polygon because it is an older and proven chain. The support is substantial, and we have had good experiences with it ourselves (Wearables, Voxels, …). At the end of the day, a decision had to be made, and for Dailys, it was Polygon. However, this doesn’t mean that we won’t start other projects on different chains in the future.
In the future, it is planned that owners of a Daily can purchase it once as a verified print.
The Dailys project entered its first testing phase on March 13, 2024. Since the minting process was not completed at that time, minting was done at a later date. Additionally, incorrect date formats were corrected (e.g., leading zeros for days and months). In the future, we also reserve the right to adjust the metadata in case of errors.
As the Dailys project consists of several complex bots and interfaces, occasional errors may occur (missing listings, incorrect date formats, errors in uploading images). In such cases, we reserve the right to make corrections but will leave the work of the AI untouched.
Occasionally, there are special collections with different numbers of pieces and different prices. “Dailys Unreleased” are images that were created during the image generation process but were not selected by the algorithm. If they are too good to withhold from the world, then these images are released in this collection but do not count as regular Dailys.
After the price structure was changed during the test phase, all testers received additional (desired) Dailys to account for the price difference.
The project is continuously being developed and aims to document global events through the eyes of AI over time. New features will be announced as soon as they go live.
We always have an open ear for your comments, questions, or criticism. However, please remember that Dailys is an art project – so please treat it as such. We are not interested in generating a cash grab; instead, we aim to document history and connect it with new technology. We would be delighted if you accompany and support us on our journey.
